Getting around New York Times registration
Here's a trick to read articles in the online edition of New York Times without registration. It seems that this trick works for a lot of other sites as well.
Usually, you have a link to a newspaper's online article. But when you try to open the link, the site tells you to register. In that case, try the following: Go to google and paste the url into the search field and google for it. Google will then say: Sorry, no information is available for the URL, followed by If the URL is valid, try visiting that web page by clicking on the following link:. Click on that link. Most sites, including the New York Times, let people get through to the article without registering when they're coming via google.
Update January 5th 2005: This trick doesn't seem to work anymore, at least not with New York Times.
