set sqlblanklines [SQL*Plus]
SQL> set sqlblanklines on SQL> set sqlblanklines off
SQL> create table blank_lines_ex (a number, b number); Table created. SQL> insert into blank_lines_ex values(4, 5); 1 row created. SQL> set sqlblanklines off SQL> select 2 a, 3
I have entered an empty line. With sqlblanklines being off, the text entered so far is discared and a new statement can be entered.
However, if setting sqlblanklines to on, I can enter as many empty lines as I want, and it is still counted as belonging to the same SQL statement.
SQL> set sqlblanklines on SQL> select 2 a 3 4 , 5 6 b 7 8 from 9 10 blank_lines_ex 11 12 ; A B ---------- ---------- 4 5
